Today’s worship service included a tribute to the veterans in attendance. It was truly touching to see the members of the congregation shake hands with each of the 19 veterans who came forward and to personally thank them for their service to our country.
Veterans Day is a holiday to be taken seriously, but it should be a happy occasion as well. We are happy that, because these brave men and women loved their country and their fellow citizens and were willing to make unbelievable sacrifices—many even making the ultimate sacrifice, we are privileged to live in a free country.
So today, and every day, we thank God for all the men and women who have served in the military, and we light candles for those who died while protecting our freedom. They are true heroes.
