The Search Continues

God is searching the world over

For a person with the right heart,

One whose heart belongs to Him

Wholeheartedly, every little part.

God knows our motives and thoughts

When we go out our Lord to serve,

Humble hearts He’ll use for His glory

If needed, He’ll bless with godly nerve.

God hates however to see proud hearts

Who cannot sense their need of Him,

They choose not to see His brightness

They keep their inner lights on dim.

God will respond to the tender hearts

Who are seeking always to do His will,

They sense their sins, the needs of others

On them He stamps his approving seal.

Attune your heart to God and listen

To counsel or correction if need be,

God’s Holy Spirit will guide you right

Opens eyes so His truth you’ll see.

Did you know that God is on a search for a certain kind of heart in His people? Most of us have heard that God doesn’t look at the things that man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7) God is looking for people with a heart like His. “For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His” (2 Chronicles 16:9) God wants to find a human heart that will allow him to use them and bring blessings to others. God wants us to acknowledge him, not forget him, and serve him with wholehearted devotion. God knows every heart and every motive behind our thoughts. God wants to find a special, humble heart, he can use for His glory.

God hates a proud heart. A proud heart is a devilish heart. Pride keeps us from sensing our need for God’s grace. If we arrogantly think we have accomplished everything without God’s help, God may have to take us down a notch or two and open our eyes to the real truth. We need to be careful of power and what it can do to our character. Power and pride can lead us to a downfall. God is ready to meet people wherever they are though, no matter how horrible their sins may be. God can show grace and forgiveness when our hearts are right. God responds to tender, sensitive hearts toward Him and others. There are many warnings in the Bible to people with callous, insensitive hearts toward God. When we are tender toward God, sensing our own sin, and the needs of others, we grow closer to the Lord. God wants us to feel things as we serve Christ. We need to have tender and teachable hearts to God’s Word and His Will. Judgmental and condemning hearts go against God’s nature. God wants our hearts to soften so we will listen to counsel or correction. It’s a sin when we refuse to listen to God.

How’s your heart? Is it a healthy heart that longs to please God, or is it one that is sick, in need of God. The secret we all need to know is to have a heart that waits on the Lord. Without faith we can never please God. Always be ready to receive Him.
